March 26, 2014 - This week on Conversations from the World Cafe, The Pixies join host David Dye. The Pixies formed in Boston in 1986 and stayed together for seven years.
March 18, 2014 - This week on Conversations from the World Cafe, Suzanne Vega joins host David Dye in the studio. Suzanne Vega burst onto the New York City folk scene in 1987 with her second album, Solitude Standing, and the song “Luka”.
March 11, 2014 - This week on Conversations from the World Cafe, Hurray for the Riff Raff join host David Dye in the studio. Hurray for the Riff Raff started putting out albums on their own in 2008, releasing three before being picked up by ATO Records.
March 04, 2014 - This week on Conversations from the World Cafe, Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks join host David Dye in the studio. Stephen Malkmus led the incredibly well regarded indie rock band Pavement in the 90s.
February 28, 2014 - This week on Conversations from the World Cafe, the John Butler Trio join host David Dye. For over a decade and a half the John Butler Trio have been gathering fans through steady touring and quality songwriting. The group came together in Australia, where John Butler has lived since 1986, moving there after spending his early years in the United States.
February 21, 2014 - This week on Conversations from the World Cafe, Ray Davies joins host David Dye in the studio. Ray Davies was the lead singer and chief songwriter for The Kinks, one of the longest lived of The British Invasion bands. He penned hits like “Lola” and “You Really Got Me” with the group.
February 14, 2014 - This week on Conversations from the World Cafe, Vince Gill and Paul Franklin join host David Dye in the studio. Two of country music’s finest have created a new album, dedicated to two of country’s finest that came before them.
February 7, 2014 - This week on Conversations from the World Cafe, Moby joins host David Dye on the stage of World Cafe Live. Moby caught the attention of music fans in the early 90s only to have his 1996 album Animal Rights alienate many.
January 31, 2014 - This week on Conversations from the World Cafe, Midlake share how they carried on after the departure of their lead singer Tim Smith. Midlake had built up quite a following with 2006’s The Trials of Van Occupanther and 2010’s The Courage of Others. And then in the middle of recording their new disc lead singer and primary songwriter Tim Smith decided to leave the band.
Janurary 23, 2014 - This week on Conversations from the World Cafe, Rosanne Cash joins host David Dye in the studio. Rosanne Cash just released a brand new album The River & the Thread. It is her third record in a trio of discs inspired by life her father Johnny Cash. While in the past she may have shied away from her father’s renown, she has come to embrace it since his death in 2003, first putting out 2006’s Black Cadillac and then 2009’s The List.
